 Happenings:

We recently had FaceBook training at our In-Service. Emily (our FaceBook manager) was a great instructor! She also sent in additional instructions for those of us who are challenged in understanding how to navigate our way through the program. Parts of this information can be found in the winter newsletter. Here is the rest of the story......

We need your help!  Interact with Assist on Facebook

You may have heard the news that Assist Pregnancy Center is on Facebook!  If you haven't "liked" our page yet, please do.  You can find it at www.Facebook.com/AssistPC or by entering "Assist Pregnancy Center" into the search field on the top toolbar.  The Like button is located to the right of our name when you visit the page for the first time.

Facebook is an important tool for Assist to stay in contact with supporters and volunteers as well as to gain free marketing.  As more people interact with our page, our network can grow quickly because content is distributed to all of their friends through Newsfeeds.  This allows us to reach a huge number of people, including potential clients who may not be familiar with our services.

That is the power of Facebook: It provides an incredible reach while requiring less time and money than traditional media.  Why?  Because we are meeting people where they already are.  Once they engage with the page, we've created a platform to continually converse with them.

In these early stages, we need Assist's supporters to help us grow our Facebook following through regular engagement with the page.  Here are a few simple ways to interact:

1. Click the "Like" button on Assist's posts.  This is perhaps the easiest way to help us spread the word about our page.  Each time you like something on Facebook, it shows up on your Wall and in your Newsfeed, which is seen by many of your friends.

2. Comment on posts.  Comments spur conversation and draw in more people.  They give followers a reason to continue checking in for updates and new opinions.  Visitors often gauge the popularity of a page and the importance of information given by the number of comments generated.

3. Use the Share option to link to one of Assist's posts on your own wall.  This is one of the most effective ways to grow Assist's readership.  When you share something from Assist's page, it will show up on your wall with the tagline "via Assist Pregnancy Center."  All of your friends can see it when they visit your page, and the link takes them directly to Assist's page.  Sharing a link from Assist also gives your friends an example of the content available on Assist's page, hopefully whetting their appetite for more.

4. Use the "@Assist Pregnancy Center" option when making a status update.  If you talk about Assist in a status update (example: I can't wait to volunteer at Assist Pregnancy Center today!), use the @ symbol before Assist to automatically hyperlink the name straight to Assist's page.  That way, your status update will show up on both your own page and Assist's.  Status updates are seen by a majority of your friends, so this is a great way to advertise the page to a large audience.

5. Post something on Assist's wall yourself.  Facebook users like to see other people posting on pages rather than all posts coming from the owner of the page.  When Assist is the only one posting on its own wall, it gives the impression that no one is engaged.  Having posts from a variety of authors encourages other people to get involved.

This Facebook page is an incredible opportunity for Assist to provide important, timely information to our supporters while reaching out to a new audience.  Thank you for your help in this new e-venture!
